APSI Newsbuzz is the official newsletter of the Addiction Psychiatry Society of India (APSI). It is a quarterly newsletter that has been started to keep the members of APSI abreast about the various advancements in the field of Addiction Psychiatry with relevance to Indian context.
Each issue of the newsletter will cover different facets of addictive disorders right from neurobiology to policies and programmes affecting addictive disorders. There will be a core theme related to addictive disorders chosen for each issue. The different dimensions of the theme would be covered by inviting write-ups from different experts with domain knowledge/experience. It is hoped that the write-ups would stimulate discussion on that topic. A regular feature of the newsletter would be providing updates on different sections of the addictive disorders which include basic sciences, alcohol and tobacco, illicit drugs, special populations, and newer drugs/areas related to addictive disorders. These sections would cover important published articles or pieces and explain their importance in Indian context to the readers. Finally, the issues would also contain fun section that would include crossword, poems and art related to addictive disorders. The issues would also disseminate information on upcoming academic programmes related to addictive disorders in India as well as different parts of the world.
APSI Newsbuzz is planned to be made available to the readers in digital format only at present. The first issue of APSI Newsbuzz was released in the third annual conference “ADDICON 2023” held at Jaipur from 26 to 28 November 2023. We are in the process of getting ISSN number for the newsletter and it will be added soon. We envisage that in the future, the newsletter would culminate into bringing out a scientific journal of its own.
